Sfkeefer over at Faith and Madness tagged me in her Christmas wish post and like the good procrastinator that I am, I have waited until Christmas Eve to reply (Hehehe).
The idea is simple, if Santa were real what would you wish for? You only get five wishes, so make it good!
I had already determined to do my best not to let Hila Fay grow up thinking that Christmas was about Santa and presents. I want her to know the real reason why we celebrate December 24th each year. Then the tragedy of Sandy Hook occurred and it reinforced in me the necessity of concentrating on the things that really matter. So, without further delay, here are my wishes:
1: Peace & Comfort for the families of the victims of Sandy Hook. I cannot imagine losing my child in such a horrendous way; but my heart is breaking at the thought of those parents waking up tomorrow morning in what should have been one of the most exciting mornings of the year, and there being silence & pain.
2. Laughter: I pray that homes and halls and buildings everywhere echo with laughter. I wish for that mischievous glint in people’s eyes as they pull off the perfect prank. I want to hear an abundance of children laughing (there’s nothing better than a toddler’s laugh!) and to see grown-ups laugh so hard they have tears in their eyes and do that weird rasping thing.
3. Contentment for me & mine. This past year has been one of the toughest emotional years that I can ever remember. It seems like there was just one thing after another that hit. This year I pray for contentment, for an emotional silence if you please. I would like to have all of my family be able to be at peace, at the same time, for a significant period of time. Yes, contentment for all would be a dream.
4. Fire: My fourth wish is for God to light a fire in the hearts of Americans-young and old-and get us back on track for Him!
5. A Matthew’s Jewel Compound Bow with a 40-50 lb draw and teal trim. What, you didn’t think I was THAT altruistic, didja?
TAG! You’re it!
